"CONSUMERIZATION OF IT, VIRTUAL COMPUTING"
Presented by: Michael McKiernan, VP of IT, Citrix
Discussion: Adapting to change is more important than ever in a world of increasing volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. Consumers and enterprises demand tools, technologies and support to adapt in a dynamic environment. They expect to live better and work better. IT organizations are at the center of a new world order – the intersection of opposing forces – standardization versus consumerization, and distributed computing versus cloud-based services.
The underlying ideas of computing as we know it are dead. The exceptions of the PC Era are the assumptions for the Cloud Era. Everyone will be mobile, working from multiple personal devices through wireless connectivity, accessing cloud data and apps. It is all about being people-centric, device independent, consumer-like, with self-service immediate access wherever someone works. Citrix Systems IT department is focused on delivering mobile work-styles and powering cloud services, enabling unprecedented productivity for people, agility for business and flexibility for IT. IT is changing from problem solvers to solution providers that enable people do what they want to do: Move work. Cut costs. Delight employees.” |
