You don't have to do it alone. Join CDW and our partners as we discuss today's Data Center evolution where new technologies are enabling IT to do more than ever with less manual configuration and management. You will walk away with strategic and tactical advice that will help optimize your IT infrastructure. Three distinct presentations each provide valuable advice on specific topic.

“APPLICATION PORTFOLIO OPTIMIZATION & MANAGEMENT”
Moderated by: George Huntzinger, CEO, Huntzinger Management Group
Panelists: Brian Lobley, VP Corp. Strategy Dev. & Execution, Independence Blue Cross
Bill Hurd, CIO, ACE North America
Peter Classon, Partner, LiquidHub, Inc.
Discussion: While the pundits would have us believe the economy is rebounding and that corporate earnings are returning, CIO’s continue to face cost pressures and to find creative ways to channel IT investments into areas with the most significant payback. The first part of this equation: freeing up cash flow so that it can be effectively reallocated is no simple feat. Once the low hanging fruit such as vendor renegotiations, SW license rationalization, and other tactical maneuvers have been exhausted, IT organizations must take a look at the biggest IT budget “line item” – the cost of running the application portfolio. A well-executed IT Portfolio Assessment includes the business stakeholders, considers the overall value chain of the enterprise, is reliant upon a mature Application Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model, and provides directional strategies at both functional and application specific levels.
In this panel discussion, we will explore Application Portfolio Optimization as a core capability of the mature IT organization. Panelists will discuss their experiences and share techniques that were used to “sell” the value of these projects, how to “execute” on these projects, and finally; how to “operationalize” Application Portfolio Management after the first assessment is complete. Our panel is comprised of business and IT leaders as well as consultants that can speak to both methodology and pragmatic solutions for achieving an optimal application portfolio.

"CIO OPEN FORUM PANEL SERIES: THE SUSTAINABILITY OF LEADERSHIP"
Moderated by: Kristen Lamoreaux, President, Lamoreaux Search LLC; Founder SIM Women Panelists: Suzanne Keenan, CIO, Wawa Karan Sorensen, CIO, J&J Pharmaceutical R&D; CIO, Centocor
Anjana Harve, IT Site Head and Head of Global Applications, CSL Behring
Lee Ann Murray, CIO, Met Life Investments
Discussion: Why did LeBron James go to Miami? Because one person can't carry a team to victory.
Leaders forget the X factor is their people. An employee's level of commitment determines your ability to execute and deliver on strategic plans. Your talent is your competitive edge. How you lead and how you tap into that workforce determines what you can accomplish. So how long can you keep moving the needle with the team you have today? How much can you deliver when your VP of App Dev leaves? If you were asked to go lean and cut 25% of your staff, would you know where to start? What happens to your team when you decide to go to Miami?
Whether your organization utilizes formal succession planning practices or believes it's a useless exercise, there are actions you can take as a CIO to increase transparency, productivity, and autonomy across your team. Our panel will demonstrate how succession planning and leadership development inside their organizations has created critical retention tactics, energized new product development, and netted new revenue in a down market.
We'll discuss the business strategy as well as the tactical practical details of implementing a plan and taking your current program to the next level. If you've been counting on the recession as your retention program, now's your opportunity to garner ideas from your peers and take deliberate action to bolster and transform your team.
Remember: When a team isn't performing, typically they don't fire the team; they fire the coach.

 Eric Naiburg |
"INFORMATION GOVERNANCE: SMARTER STRATEGIES TO MAXIMIZE YOUR INFORMATION SUPPLY CHAIN" Presented by: Eric Naiburg, Director, IBM Discussion: The volume and variety of digital information is exploding as our planet becomes more instrumented, interconnected and intelligent. Current economic times require corporations and governments to analyze new information faster and make timely decisions for achieving business goals within budget. Look around you and think about all the new types of information your organization is collecting that it previously did not capture 10, 5, or even a single year ago. How do you manage and protect this information today? Is your organization able to harness this data to drive smarter business outcomes and ensure your company is prepared for the future? In this session we will discuss best practices to master the complete lifecycle of information, establish sustainable management of information quality and security, and enable it to make information more accessible and meaningful to the business. Learn how an effective governance strategy can enable it and business to collaborate more effectively by ensuring information is aligned to business goals. Understand how your organization can take a holistic approach to improve operational efficiency by reducing risk and wasted time and cost associated with finding, understanding, and managing information.

Panelists: Stephen Andriole, Thomas G. Labrecque Professor, Dept. of Decision & IT,
Villanova University
John Carrow, Founder, Carrow Consulting; Former CIO Unisys Corp.; Former CIO, City
of Philadelphia
Peter Whatnell, CIO, Sunoco, Inc.
Discussion: In a recent article (Who’s IT Gonna Be? CIOs Past, Present, and (Poof!) Future - CUTTER IT JOURNAL January 2010) Steve Andriole opines on the role of the CIO, past, present and future offering that by 2015 the role of the enterprise CIO has been distributed to the lines of business and replaced by multiple enterprise technology managers managing vendors delivering cloud-based technology that has merged with the business. Gone are the days when business did not understand technology and could therefore not be trusted to do IT correctly so control, standardization, and discipline constituted the role of the CIO. Gone also are the times when CIOs fronted massive technology CAPEX initiatives and were permitted to deliver relatively soft ROI having been replaced by those delivering strategic impact through investments in applications, customer service, and innovation enabling their companies to make money, improve services, and gain strategic advantage while cutting costs. Please join this panel of renowned IT visionaries as they attempt to look forward and determine if Steve has got it right.
