Paul is currently a Senior Enterprise Architect for CIGNA Healthcare, focusing in the areas of Clinical Management Systems, Master Data Management, ICD-10, HIPAA 5010 and e-Health. Prior to CIGNA, Paul held several positions at CIGNA, United Healthcare and other healthcare payers in both line and staff IT roles, including Medical Management, Informatics, Claims and Provider disciplines.
Paul also served in various hospital and healthcare provider IT organizations, including leadership of the IT department at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown CT, one of the early and successful implementers of a community-wide health information network, linking the hospital with over 100 physician practices in the region for clinical results reporting and integration.
Paul is a frequent speaker at local, regional and national healthcare IT events and an active member of the Health Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS), currently serving on the HIMSS Personal Health Record (PHR) committee. He was a participant on the Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel and served on several other industry Boards, panels and committees.
As a healthcare IT professional who has worked on “both sides of the fence” (payer and provider), his interest area continues to be in bridging gaps between payer and provider stakeholders to improve electronic health record technology use and adoption. |
