KEYNOTE – "HOW PROGRESSIVE IT IS TRANSFORMING ITSELF"
Presented by: Raymond Voelker, CIO, Progressive Casualty Insurance Co.
Discussion: During his nine years as CIO, Ray Voelker has closely aligned the Information Technology department to the business. There was a strong sense of urgency towards meeting the business needs that, at times, did not balance with the needs of producing a quality IT product. Ray will discuss how Progressive has re-evaluated its applications portfolio, how they have worked with the business to make the tough prioritization decisions, and how they have restructured IT to meet the changing needs of the organization. Their ultimate goal is to reduce systems complexity in order to re-deploy resources to new strategic development efforts, while ensuring appropriate quality and continual service improvement best practices are achieved. |

 John Semmer |
"SIGNIFICANT AND SUSTAINED IT COST REDUCTION"
Presented by: John Semmer, Senior Executive, Accenture
Discussion: The implications of recession continue to swirl, impacting a company's ability to achieve and sustain high performance across economic cycles. The slowdown inevitably places cost reduction back on the executive management agenda, whether to offset pressures on revenues, fulfill earnings commitments, or safeguard borrowing covenants. Much of the search for savings will inevitably focus on IT—which means the CIO faces the challenge of reducing costs in IT while maintaining service quality and delivering the technology investments required to support the business efficiency agenda. Achieving both of these priorities is made more difficult by previous optimization efforts, which have created a leaner IT function where quick wins have already been exploited. Most high performing organizations have already done "the easy stuff," and while those efforts contributed to the bottom line, conditions continue to change and requiring a new look at sustainable cost reduction.

KEYNOTE – "CHANGING THE CULTURE – THE TOUGHEST TASK IN IT"
Presented by: Jack Wilson, AVP Enterprise Architecture, Amerisure Mutual Insurance Company

It is one of the areas in the organization that by its very nature has to evolve forcing change within the organization. In the best cases IT can become a revolutionary force to drive an organization to examine what they do, why they do it, and is it effective? It’s not easy, but it is what separates progressive IT leadership from stagnant IT management. |
