Chicago SIM is a chapter within the Society for Information Management (SIM), a prestigious professional association of executives, academics, and consultants in the information management field. Membership is limited to the top information executives in leading business or public sector firms and key academic contributors to the field. SIM's mission is to provide international leadership and education in the successful use of information technology to meet business objectives.
Chapters of SIM are geographically based. Chicago serves the Northern Illinois area represents and is one of approximately 30 chapters of SIM worldwide.
The Chicago Chapter conducts a number of important services for its members, including coordinating with SIM International regarding worldwide issues of vital interest to all SIM members, and offering focused services to the Chicago Area members such as monthly events hosted in Chicago, CIO roundtable's, new member orientation, member directory, community service activities. The Chicago Chapter has established the
following overall goals & objectives:
- Provide a forum for I.S. members to network.
- Provide an opportunity to hear presentations about important to I.S. issues.
- Provide a setting for the critical examination of I.S. problems & opportunities.
- Provide support to the community, leveraging our collective I.S. capabilities.
- Provide a connection to I.S. colleagues inside and outside of Chicago.
- Provide support for additional goals & objectives as determined by the Chapter needs.
An Executive Committee governs the Chicago Chapter, subject to the By-laws of the Chapter, and provides overall guidance to the membership.

Information Technology Executive Exchange (ITEEx) is an industry association serving IT executive leadership. ITEEx's focus is building a powerful consortium of IT leaders, who will leverage each other's networks, best practices, and general wisdom to advance their organizations and most importantly, their careers. ITEEx accomplishes this task primarily through the development of communities of IT Executives called special interest groups (SIG).

Technology Executive Network (TEN) is a Chicago-based organization exclusively for the Top IT Executive in an enterprise or major operating division. Membership is cross-industry and technology bases and is organized into groups (chapters) based on the relative size of the respective enterprise; larger, mid-size, and smaller companies.
Utilizing a small group format, each chapter meets monthly to discuss CIO selected topics, providing excellent opportunities for peers to share and learn from one another’s experiences (good and bad). Meeting discussions are confidential, allowing for open, candid exchange across a spectrum of Leadership, Strategy, Business, and Technology topics critical to success for CIOs and their respective companies.

RLF is SIM's leadership development program. Participants discover their own unique authentic leadership style and voice which enable them to achieve influence, power and success in their personal and professional lives. Their executive sponsors report increased effectiveness, decision making, delegation and capacity to get work done through others. RLF is in its 16th year with over 2300 graduates.

The Center for Research in Information Management is an interdisciplinary resource in the College of Business Administration at the University of Illinois , Chicago. The center promotes industry-university collaboration to advance the theory and practice of the use and management of information systems.
