Uei Lei joined Loyola University Medical Center in 2006 and is responsible for the overall planning, direction and liaison for regional disaster preparedness and emergency response with Illinois Emergency Medical System (EMS) Region 8 hospitals. He has leadership roles in the development and implementation of regional disaster policies, disaster response plans, incident management procedural manuals, regional exercise scenarios and more.
Uei has extensive experience in emergency preparedness and has also served as Emergency Response Coordinator for the Cook County Department of Public Health and Side Administrator for Emergency/Disaster Management Resource at Wake Forest University.
His diverse work experience includes serving as a paramedic, wilderness medic, flight medic and EMS educator. Uei has earned numerous certifications from groups ranging from the National Association of Search and Rescue and FEMA Emergency Management Institute to OSHA and IDPH. Volunteer activities include performing search and rescue missions for the United States Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol.
Uei received his Master of Public Health from Benedictine University, Lisle, Illinois, and his Bachelor of Science degree in biochemisty from Rockford College, Rockford, Illinois. He currently resides in Oak Park.
