Tom Coleman has worked successfully at many organizational levels in information technology and in manufacturing disciplines. He has a detailed understanding of strategic planning, process improvement, IT, and materials management. Tom worked in various manufacturing positions at Motorola and Western Digital leading to the position of Director of Worldwide Planning and Materials. In the information technology area, he has held positions at Textron, Abex Aerospace, and Sloan including Director Information Systems, Vice President of Information Technology, and Chief Information Officer (CIO).
Tom has led six enterprise-wide systems implementations, nine major process re-designs, and many continuous improvement events. He currently holds the position of Chief Information and Process Officer at the Sloan Valve Company in Franklin Park, IL. He is responsible for the Information Technology Group, Sloan's Business Process Transformation initiative, and Tom is process owner for Sloan's strategic planning process.
Tom has presented at many events related to business process transformation and the role of the CIO including those for Gartner Research, Forrester Research, Hammer and Associates, the Center for Research in Information Management (CRIM), the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Association of Business Process Professionals (ABPMP), CampIT, Vistage (TEC), Technology Executive Network (TEN), and the CIO Forum and Executive IT Summit. Tom has also contributed to Gartner podcasts, CIO Magazine, BPMEnterprise, and is a frequent speaker to companies embarking on a business transformation journey. Tom holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and he is a Certified Business Process Professional (CPBP). |
