Paul Penny is Principal Consultant at Varrow responsible for development and delivery of Varrow’s IT Strategic Consulting services. Paul assists Varrow’s customers in improving the alignment of IT with business requirements, mitigating business and technology risks, improving the strategic value of IT to the business, and optimizing the delivery of IT services to the business. Paul has personally delivered services in these areas to dozens of customer organizations over the past 20 years.

Paul has served as the Chief Technology Officer for a $200 million regional systems integration company, driving corporate services and solutions strategy. Paul also served as the Chief Information Officer for this company, managing the integration of multiple IT organizations and Knowledge Officer, managing the development of Best Practices and organizational knowledge repositories for nearly 200 consulting and technology associates as they served hundred of customer organizations.

During his career, Paul has led teams and developed IT solutions related to Computer Aided Design, Product Lifecycle Management, Document Imaging, Enterprise Document Management, Business Process Automation, Application Development, eBusiness, Collaborative Computing, Enterprise Portals, IT Service Management, IT Business Consulting and Disaster Recovery.

A popular guest lecturer and panelist, Paul has addressed audiences at NC State University’s School of Management, the University of Tennessee’s Stokely School of Business, Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, the Society for Information Management, the Society for Competitive Intelligence, the CIO Forum, the North Carolina Association of CPAs, and the North Carolina Quality Conference, among others. Paul’s lectures typically address business and technology strategy, knowledge and innovation management, business continuity planning, IT service management, and the role of information technology in redefining businesses.
