In 2009, Ben Weiner assumed his current position of Director of Infrastructure Architecture & Engineering, where he manages the Technology and Operations (T&O) Infrastructure Architecture function. As head of the local architecture board for Infrastructure Technology, Ben oversees technology architecture governance including technology tools and utilities, infrastructure designs for business solutions, and the development and use of infrastructure strategy and architecture frameworks for the organization.
Ben joined TIAA-CREF in August of 2001 as Operations Manager, Enterprise Services where he led the day-to-day Technology Operations of the Insurance Division of the company. In this role, Ben managed the day to day technology operations related to Service Desk, Operational Control Center, Data Center Operations, Batch Management, and Crisis Management. During his tenure in this role, Ben worked as a technical lead on several key technology initiatives, including the build and migration of the Charlotte Data Center, and Operations Command Center.
In 2005, Ben was promoted to the position of System Architect, IT Architecture and Standards, where he worked in he development of IT service management, architecture and technical analysis, hardware and software implementation, internetworking, and application support and management. In this role, Ben helped develop and implement the Enterprise Architecture for Enterprise Systems Management and Configuration Management. From 2008 to 2009, Ben worked as a member of the Technology Strategy and Enterprise Architecture team, where he led the development of the Infrastructure Service Delivery Model.
Prior to joining TIAA-CREF, Ben was the Director of Information Systems of Personnel Group of America, a provider of staffing services. As the Director of Information Systems, he oversaw the complete function and administration of a diverse technology staff, managing and directing the activities of a 30-person information systems department, with an annual operating budget of $9,000,000, including a service desk, server and network infrastructure team, and an application support team. Before joining Personnel Group of America, he was Director of Information Systems at Select Personnel Services of Santa Barbara California, where he was responsible for the technology management and operations of the firm.
Ben earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the California State University at Northridge, with an Option in Information Systems Management. He is certified as an ITIL Practitioner in Release and Control, and has a concentrated focus in the areas of Configuration Management and Enterprise Systems Management. He has been certified as a Microsoft Certified Server Engineer, as well as Comp TIA Network and A+ certified. He has facilitated workshops and discussions on these topics, as well as several infrastructure related topics.
