Renu Kulkarni is Executive Director, FutureMedia at the Georgia Institute of Technology. In this role, her charter is to connect universities, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and industry to create a robust open innovation ecosystem to leverage and build upon existing world-class efforts at Georgia Tech and the state of Georgia. We envision physical and virtual places where all are invited to experiment, discover, create, commercialize, and
shape the future of digital, social, mobile and multi media.
Renu is a global innovation and strategic alliances professional. She has deep understanding of the high tech and consumer electronics ecosystems with over 23 years of industry experience. She has expertise in building open innovation capabilities, strategic alliances, business and technology strategy, R&D portfolio optimization, business development and operations. She is committed to creating value by bridging ideas, people, and enterprises to enable incubation, technology transfer, and commercialization.
Prior to joining Georgia Tech, she was Vice President of Technology Partnerships at Motorola where she drove strategic technology-based partnerships with leading companies, key customers, premier universities, and government research centers around the world to achieve break-through innovation and business results. Notable alliances included: Microsoft, IBM, SUN, France Telecom, British Telecom, NTT DoCoMo, Fox Mobile, Stanford, MIT, Georgia Tech, South Korean Ministry of Communications, and the Singapore Economic Development Board.
Ms. Kulkarni serves as Board Advisor to several start-ups in the high-tech industry, is Executive Board Advisor to Digitainment and to the Technology Association of Georgia’s Corporate Development Group. She is a TiE Atlanta Charter Member, and a Member of the Collaborative Innovation and Academic Councils at the Global Association
of Strategic Alliance Professionals.
Ms. Kulkarni holds an MBA degree from Goizueta Business School at Emory University and a Bachelor of Science
in Industrial Engineering/Management Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
