Dr. Dave Chatterjee, is Associate Professor in the Management Information Systems department at the Terry College of Business, The University of Georgia, USA. Driven by a mission to positively impact practice, Dr. Chatterjee engages and influences senior IS executives through presentations, panel discussions, debates, and consultations. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Society of Information Management (SIM) Atlanta Chapter since 2005 and was elected President in 2008.
Bridging the Digital Divide in Organizations is the title and theme that captures much of his current research, teaching, and writing. The focus is on enhancing the level of managerial-IT knowledge and thereby reducing the disconnect between technical and business people. Transformation of the enterprise through digitization, identifying the right set of metrics for IT performance management, developing and leveraging IT capabilities, and creating an IT-friendly organizational climate are his other areas of interest and expertise.
Dr. Chatterjee was recognized for groundbreaking e-business research by the Advanced Practices Council (APC) of SIM in 2004. He has published in premier practitioner and academic journals and also won numerous teaching awards. In 2007 he was recognized as the Outstanding Executive MBA Professor of the Year. Other notable accomplishments and recognitions have come in the form of the Boeing Faculty Fellowship award in 1998, nomination and selection to the UNCTAD roster of E-Commerce experts in 2000, and appointment to the Fulbright Senior Specialists Review Committee for IT in 2005. He serves on the editorial board of two major journals and has given talks at premier institutions and conferences such as the Center for IS Research at MIT, Duke University, The Boeing Company, Hearst Corporation, Infosys Inc., International Conference on Information Systems (IClS), and SIMposiums 2003 and 2008.
